This instantly recognizable, yet relatively rare butterfly, has fairly large wings and striking long tails with a characteristic red dot on its wings. The caterpillars feed exclusively on Milk-parsley found in parts of Norfolk in East Anglia.
About the Artist
Based out of Delhi and Arizona, founders & sisters, Dhruti and Seema design and head this women-owned embroidery atelier. These handcrafted pins are little pieces of art with up to thirty techniques and materials used on a single small pin. Their small batch workshop follows ethical fair trade practices and offers artisans above the age of 18 fair wages, healthcare benefits, a safe and happy working environment, and the ability to keep alive the intricate luneville needlework technique that has been in the artisans' families for generations.
Slight variation in embroidery, size, shape, and color is part of the handmade craft and are celebrated as a mark of being made by hand.
