Boxed Cards Mischievous Menagerie
Kathy DeZarn Beynette’s love for animals shines through in her colorful, whimsical paintings. Her creatures have distinct personalities and speak volumes with their eyes, each vignette hinting of an intriguing backstory. “Before I became a painter,” Beynette says, “I wrote fiction and poetry, which probably explains my narrative approach to painting.”
Beynette’s work “comes with an enormous depth of human feeling attached,” wrote Dr. Elisabeth Kessler of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. “Fun and caring without sentimentality. Straight to the heart pieces.”
Based in Alexandria, Virginia, Beynette has a studio at the Torpedo Factory Art Center and is on the faculty of The Art League School.
